Theatre in the Grove is excited to open the 2017-18 season with the Tony-winning play, Peter and the Starcatcher. It is the story about how an orphaned boy becomes the legendary Peter Pan.
All children, except one, grow up. But how did this one boy become the infamous Peter Pan? The Tony-winning Peter and the Starcatcher delves into the history, drawing inspiration from the best-selling novels by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. Directed by Jessica Reed, this production will ooze with magic and fun sights and songs for the whole family. From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, Peter and the Starcatcher playfully explores greed and despair, friendship and love.
It all starts because a mysterious trunk is brought aboard a ship to sail to the far-off isle of Rundoon, assumed to contain a treasure of gold and gems, while an identical trunk containing merely sand is loaded on a second. The treasure chest is found to contain the priceless celestial substance called “starstuff” which has the magical ability to fulfill dreams. After a switcheroo by a villainous sea captain, it is up to three orphan boys, lead by the precocious Molly Aster, to set things to right. Unfortunately, notorious pirate Black Stache has other plans…
With creativity infused into every corner, Peter and the Starcatcher is a thrilling adventure that explores the limitless possibilities of imagination.
